It's official... GenAI usage is mainstream, and here's the data to prove it

Spoiler: It's not just Early Careers candidates who are using GenAI

Last week we dropped some very spicy insights on how Early Careers candidates are using GenAI. Click here for the PDF if you haven’t seen it.

This week we’re keeping the data flowing, with insights from a second survey of 1,000 knowledge workers with more than three years’ work experience, across a diverse range of industries.

So if you work outside of Early Careers, this one is for you 🙌

Just as we did with Early Careers candidates, we asked respondents about their adoption of – and attitudes towards – GenAI tools in the selection process, and whether they expect employers to deter, detect, or embrace use.

This is the first time we’ve surveyed professionals with this level of experience. And we think you’ll agree, the results are too juicy to keep to ourselves.

So rather than holding on to the data until we can crunch all 78,679 data points, we’re releasing our findings incrementally and exclusively to TA Disruptors subscribers over the coming weeks.

But for now, let’s jump into the data…

How 1,000 professionals with more than 3 years of work experience are using GenAI in selection.

Contrary to what you may be thinking, GenAI use is not solely the reserve of GenZ. Our data shows that...

💡 47% of professionals with 3+ years of experience are using ChatGPT

💡 68% describe themselves as proficient

💡 On average, people are using it for 1 hour 22 minutes each week

And just as we've seen in Early Careers candidates, traditionally underrepresented groups are using GenAI to level up. 74% of Black candidates are using ChatGPT vs 43% of white candidates. And usage is also common among those who are neurodiverse –– 54% vs the average of 47%.

Candidates see GenAI as a tool to level up — and definitely do not think of it as cheating. And why would they, when 73% think of it like a spellchecker which helps them improve their writing and thinking?

The evidence is clear. TA teams have just one option if they want to maintain an equitable and efficient hiring process –– to embrace and guide candidate use of GenAI.

Its not just early careers using genai
